If you are like me, you are a parent or someone concerned with being prepared to save a child's life, should the need arise. How would you react in the moment if your baby was choking on a piece of solid food? Would you know how to administer the Heimlich maneuver or CPR to your baby if they stopped breathing? When is an accident serious enough to necessitate a trip to the hospital?
All of these questions and more will be answered at our Infant CPR and First-Aid Training! Provided by Baby Be Safe, this class is intended for Moms, Dads, nannies, or anybody else who watches your baby or cares for your family. You will learn the skills for prevention, recognition, and treatment for choking (Heimlich), respiratory, and cardiac emergencies (CPR) for infants and children. There will also be hands on practice using infant and children mannequins. Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to either learn for the first time or to brush up on your infant CPR and first aid skills.
Baby Be Safe CPR and First Aid classes are led by American Heart Association (AHA) and Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) Instructors certified in CPR, First Aid and BLS for Healthcare Providers. Our instructors utilize real world experience in emergency safety, health care, education and family.
*The class runs for 2.5 hours and costs $85-$100 per person depending on whether or not a student is seeking a 2-yr certification in CPR with AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
The $85 Infant/Child/Adult CPR and first Aid class is good for all (NON-CERTIFICATION).
The $100 Infant/Child/Adult CPR with AED CERTIFICATION is good for caregivers and nannies, teachers, life guards or those seeking certification. The certification is the AHA Heartsaver with AED 2 year certification. (Students must stay an extra 15 minutes to take the test).
Everyone will also learn prevention, recognition and treatment of first aid emergencies in children.
Each student will receive a packet and book with the training. Infants can attend with Mom and Dad. Space is limited.
About the Instructors
Laurie Torres, EMT-B is a Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider, CPR and First Aid Instructor for American Heart Association and owner of Baby Be Safe. Laurie completed her BBA in International Management from Pace University in 1992.
Laurie founded Baby Be Safe in 2005 after the birth of her premature twins. One twin was born with a heart issue which sparked her passion for learning about the heart, leading her to become a BLS, CPR, and First Aid Instructor. Laurie has over 15 years of experience as an administrator in the health care field working for hospitals, wound care centers, and home care. Laurie was determined to be a stay home mom and nurture her twins so they could thrive to be healthy young boys while maintaining a flexible work schedule. Today Laurie and husband Ralph are proud parents of 4 boys (Ethan, Aydan, Dylan and Brandon).
Baby Be Safe has grown into a business that not only teaches infant/child CPR, but also teaches Adult CPR with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), BLS for health care providers and an array of First Aid classes. All Baby Be Safe Instructors are trained and certified under American Heart Association (AHA) and some are also trained in Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). We all share the passion of teaching how to save a life!
