What if I am disabled?  This seminar is specifically designed for new and upcoming parents eager to learn how they can provide a secure financial future for their families. About the Instructors

Paula Brancato brings to the Northwestern Mutual over 25 years of experience as a senior risk consultant and investment banker. Her specialties include estate planning, and private business and personal financial management.

Before joining Northwestern, Brancato served as Regional Vice President of Alpha Omega Capital Partners, investment bankers. Prior to this, she was a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche working with private investors and hedge fund managers, Senior Vice President for Rogers Casey pension consultants, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for Equitable Capital, and a derivatives expert and senior consultant with McKinsey & Company, Morgan Stanley and The World Bank.

Brancato earned her M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School where she was a Herman Meuhlstein/Godfrey Cabot Fellow. She is a graduate of Hunter College, Series 7 and 63 licensed and a CFA III candidate. She also serves as faculty at the University of Southern California and Stony Brook Southampton College.


Jeff Buffum is a native from Morristown, New Jersey and a graduate of Ithaca College. While studying for his degree in Business Administration, Jeff was captain of the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team and Vice President of the Snowboarding Club. He was on the Dean’s List and a member of Sigma Iota Epsilon, a well-renowned business fraternity. Jeff first explored his passion for finance while interning at Merrill Lynch and developing quality expertise within the business, where he analyzed client portfolios, researched marketing patterns and prospected for new clients.


Jeff has spent the past four years building a successful financial practice with Northwestern Mutual, where he serves his own clients in the areas of goal-oriented investing, risk management products, estate planning and taxes. He specializes in comprehensive financial planning for newlyweds, young couples, new home owners and business owners with employees, successfully designing innovative solutions well-suited to his clients’ respective goals and circumstances. He is Series 6 and 63 licensed and is a Certified Financial Planner candidate.

Rachelle Naomi Motter

Rachelle Motter began working with Jeff Buffum at Northwestern Mutual in 2015. She is responsible for the planning and operations of the business. Rachelle holds her Life, Accident and Health Insurance license, as well as the Series 7 and 63 licenses. She graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a major in Economics and a minor in Finance and Italian Studies. During her 4 completed years at McGill University, she has excelled in most of her courses, as well as gained knowledge in Finance through projects such as creating Wealth Management Portfolios for real clients.

Rachelle was born and raised in Montreal and has also lived in Florida and Mexico. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish and Italian at an intermediate level. She loves to sing and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys helping others. At a young age she started giving back by going on missionary trips in Mexico, singing at orphanages and retirement homes, among others.
